India’s security forces eliminated three terrorists in two separate operations in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday (February 4, 2026), as part of a military counter-terrorism effort under Operation Kiya, right ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit.

The security forces carried out precision strike operations by blasting a hideout in Udhampur’s Basantgarh area, terminating two terrorists, including a Pakistan-origin top commander, Maavi.

Another terrorist was killed in a separate operation in Kishtwar, according to security officials.

The Indian security forces launched Operation Kiya on Tuesday (February 3, 2026) after they got a specific intelligence from the Union Territory police about Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists seen in the area.

Jammu and Kashmir Police, Counter Insurgency Force Delta (CIF Delta), an elite Indian Army unit under the White Knight Corps (16 Corps), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) executed a joint counter-terror operation in the general area of Jophar Forest, Basantgarh, the officials said.

Apart from deploying camera-mounted sniffer dogs to detect the terrorists’ presence, the security forces team faced intermittent firing through the night of February 3-4, they said.

In response, the forces fired rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) rounds, targeting the hideout mouth. In that counter-attack, the forces killed both the terrorists hiding in the cave.

The forces recovered M4 rifles, AK-47, and large quantities of ammunition from the dead terrorists.

“Contact with terrorists was established yesterday (February 3) and since then, terrorists were prevented from breaking contact,” the officials said.

“Following a calibrated and coordinated response, two terrorists have been successfully neutralised,” they added.

“The joint operation highlighted seamless inter-agency coordination, tactical precision and high standards of professionalism,” White Knight Corps posted on X (formerly Twitter).

“Operation concluded successfully. Area remains under surveillance. We Serve, We Protect!” the army X handle added.

The officials said, the killed terrorists were operating in the area for months, and reportedly establishing a base and gathering supplies.

“Their elimination brings relief to locals, coming just weeks after a special police official was killed in the same area on December 15, 2025,” the officials said.

The successful counter-terrorism operation came just ahead of Amit Shah’s visit to the Union Territory to launch development projects and review security
