India, US Share Views on Geopolitical Developments, Discuss Global Security and Defence Ties

India and the US held high-level diplomatic discussions on Wednesday (March 25, 2026) to share views on the current geopolitical situation, as well as global security and defence ties.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met with US Under-Secretary of War for Policy Elbridge A. Colby in New Delhi, during the latter’s visit to India.

Jaishankar posted a photograph of his meeting with Colby, and noted that the two sides “exchanged views” on the current geopolitical developments.

“Pleased to meet US Under Secretary of War Elbridge Colby @USWPColby this afternoon. Exchanged views on the current geopolitical scenario,” his post of X read, but without other details of the discussions between the two leaders.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal also posted on X that Misri met Colby on the sidelines of the India-US Defence Policy Group dialogue.

“They exchanged views on the advancing bilateral defence cooperation, regional security, and further strengthening the strategic partnership,” Jaiswal posted.

Colby was in India to engage with senior Indian leaders and to advance the bilateral relationship.

During his stay in India, he attended a key event, where he spoke of how India was important to the Indo-Pacific region and why the US viewed India with deep respect, even if the two nations had their own national interests to look after and differences of opinion on some matters.
