An attack on a key power and water desalination facility in Kuwait has resulted in the death of an Indian worker and caused significant structural damage, intensifying concerns over the widening impact of the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity confirmed on Monday (March 30, 2026) that the strike targeted a service building within the facility, prompting an immediate emergency response.
Technical teams were deployed to contain the damage and ensure continuity of essential operations at the plant, which plays a critical role in supplying electricity and potable water.
While Kuwaiti authorities attributed the incident to Iranian aggression, Tehran rejected the claim, instead accusing Israel of orchestrating the attack as part of a broader strategy to destabilize the region and deflect blame.
The incident comes amid a sustained wave of aerial threats over Kuwait. In the past 24 hours alone, Kuwaiti armed forces reported detecting multiple ballistic missiles and drones in their airspace, some of which targeted a military installation and injured ten servicemen.
The wounded personnel were treated at medical facilities, and no fatalities were reported in that specific incident.
Military officials also confirmed that logistics infrastructure, including warehouses, was struck during the same wave of attacks, resulting in material damage.
Since the outbreak of hostilities on February 28, Kuwait has recorded hundreds of aerial threats, including missiles and drones, underscoring the scale and persistence of the security challenge.
The broader conflict has destabilised much of the Middle East, with Iran launching retaliatory strikes not only against Israel but also across countries hosting American military assets, including Jordan and Iraq.
These attacks have caused casualties, disrupted infrastructure, and heightened risks to regional stability and global supply chains.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia reported intercepting multiple ballistic threats targeting its Eastern Region, highlighting the expanding geographical scope of the conflict.
