Iran has pledged not to falter in its war against the US and Israel, even as it joined its allies in targeting the American and Israeli assets in West Asia on Monday (March 9, 2026).
Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, congratulating and extending his support to the new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, said,” We pledge that, in defence of the rights of the great Iranian nation, the advancement of national interests and security, and the realization of the lofty goals of the Islamic Revolution, we shall not falter for a moment.”
In his X post, Araghchi said, “Congratulations on the worthy selection of His Eminence Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, coinciding with the first blessed night of Qadr…”
His statement came as West Asia plunged into turmoil over the US-Israel and Iran war since February 28, 2026, when a joint American-Israeli air strike killed Mojtaba’s father and then Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran.
A week later, the Assembly of Experts of Iran announced the appointment of Mojtaba as the next Supreme Leader of the country.
Just as the appointment came, the US and Israel vowed that Mojataba would be a target for elimination as he was “harderliner” than his father.
Meanwhile, Iran’s military and its regional allies in West Asia launched a series of strikes against the US and Israeli assets in the region on Sunday (March 8, 2026), the Iranian state broadcaster reported.
The Iranian elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian Army carried out the operations as part of ‘Operation True Promise 4’ against the “unprovoked act of aggression” by a US-Israeli coalition against the Islamic Republic of Iran, it said.
The war entered its 11th day on Tuesday (March 10, 2026) as the scope of the military conflict widened, with Lebanese Hezbollah and Iraqi Islamic Resistance joining the attacks on the US-Israeli government and military assets in the region.
The most significant attack on Sunday (March 8, 2026) came from the IRGC, which targeted a helicopter base at Al-Ada’iri in Kuwait, it said.
During the strikes, the IRGC naval forces’ ballistic missile unit reportedly struck the helicopter assembly centres, fuel tanks, and command buildings, resulting in “significant destruction” at the helicopter base, it added
