India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Germany this month for a high-level discussion on industrial collaboration between the two nations.
Rajnath Singh will also address an industry summit while in Germany, pitching India as a destination for technology cooperation, according to Ministry of Defence officials aware of the trip.
India would be represented at the summit by a delegation being put together by the industry body Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), they said.
The Indian defence minister will meet and talk with his German counterpart, Boris Pistorius, and other senior political and administrative leaders.
The India-Germany defence investor summit would happen in Munich and would engage leading German defence industry stakeholders to explore avenues for collaboration, investment, and strategic partnerships.
Interestingly, India is all set to sign a nearly $10-billion contract with Germany’s ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) to provide technology and manufacturing skill sets for the Indian Navy’s Project 75(I) project.
India would build six advanced conventional diesel-electric submarines under the project at the state-run Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL).
These vessels would be equipped with the Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) systems to enable them to stay submerged underwater for weeks.
