India has taken note of Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir’s recent nuclear threat to wipe out half of the world if they think they are going down. Responding to his remarks made in the United States, New Delhi has not condemned it but also laid bare the true face of the “dump truck” nation.

“Dump Truck” and “Mercedes” is a analogy that Pak Army Chief Munir himself gave, saying, “India is shining, a Mercedes coming on a highway like a Ferrari, but we are a dump truck full of gravel. If the truck hits the car, who is going to be the loser?” he said during his address in the US.

On his second visit to the US in around 2 months, Munir made a nuclear threat which is the first such instance of ever been delivered from US soil against a third country. “We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world down with us,” he stated.

Asim Munir’s nuclear threat: What is India’s response?

In a stern reply to the same, the Ministry of External Affairs said, “Nuclear sabre-rattling is Pakistan’s stock-in-trade.” Suggesting that attention has been drawn to remarks reportedly made by the Pakistani Chief of Army Staff while on a visit to the United States, the MEA underlined that India will not give in to nuclear blackmail.

“We will continue to take all steps necessary to safeguard our national security.”

Underlining that “Nuclear sabre-rattling is Pakistan’s stock-in-trade”, India asserted that the international community can draw its own conclusions on the irresponsibility inherent in such remarks, which also reinforce the well-held doubts about the integrity of nuclear command and control in a state where the military is hand-in-glove with terrorist groups.

How India exposed Pak’s true face with a simple statement?

In its short and crisp statement, the Ministry of External Affairs not only drew the international community’s attention to the irresponsibility of Islamabad in making such remarks and how important control is for such a state, but India also used the opportunity to underscore the importance of the place from where the comments were made – the US!

The ministry expressed regret that “these remarks should have been made from the soil of a friendly third country”. Why it matters is because this is a first nuclear threat known to have ever been delivered from US soil against a third country. Of late, these has been an increasing proximity between the US and Pakistan.
