In a strong message on the Navy’s indigenisation drive, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi on Tuesday (November 25, 2025) declared that the annual event ‘Swavlamban’ has become a central pillar of the Indian Navy’s mission to build a fully Aatmanirbhar maritime force.
Navy chief Admiral Tripathi, in a video message for Swavlamban 2025, the Navy’s annual innovation showcase, called upon innovators, startups and Indian defence manufacturers to join hands in accelerating home-grown technologies for naval use. “Swavlamban reflects the Indian Navy’s commitment to stand not just as a user but also a partner and enabler of innovation across the nation.”
Underscoring the Navy’s resolve to create a self-reliant maritime ecosystem powered entirely by Indian technology, the Navy chief stated, “Through Swavlamban, we aim to foster an ecosystem where ideas are nurtured, innovators are incubated and promising technologies are fast-tracked towards operational deployment.”
Swavlamban 2025: What will the annual naval event focus on?
The Navy Chief emphasised that the overwhelming industry participation in earlier editions proves that the nation’s defence ecosystem is ready to deliver world-class capability. This is the 4th edition of Swavalamban organised by the Indian Navy. In the last 4 years, the Navy has provided niche technologies to the Indian small-scale industries in the areas where they needed to focus.
Ahead of the event, Vice Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan outlined the key highlights of Swavlamban 2025 during a curtain-raiser briefing. Scheduled for November 25–26 at the Manekshaw Centre, Delhi, the fourth edition will give special emphasis to emerging and disruptive technologies; ‘ideation to induction’ success stories; policy frameworks for faster adoption; deep tech challenges, solutions; along with funding pathways with venture capital engagement.
The seminar will also unveil the Swavlamban 4.0 Document, Armament Indigenisation Compendium, and launch the Innovathon, reaffirming the Navy’s commitment to future-ready capabilities. The theme for Swavlamban 2025 is ‘Strength and Power through Innovation and Indigenisation’, which reflects the Navy’s strategic focus on self-reliant capability building.
Earlier in the day, RAdm Mohamed Tahin, Inspector of the Royal Moroccan Navy, on an official visit to India, was received by CNS Admiral Tripathi, with a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the South Block Lawns in New Delhi. Their discussions focused on enhancing operational interactions, structured training exchanges, strengthening information-sharing cooperation, and promoting shared commitment to maritime security.
