Here’s Why MoS Defence Sanjay Seth Visited Shimla’s Army Training Command

Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth visited the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh on Monday (June 9).
The visit focused on reviewing ARTRAC’s efforts in strengthening the Indian Army’s institutional training framework and adapting to emerging operational challenges.
During the visit, ARTRAC leadership briefed the minister on the Command’s strategic role in shaping military doctrine, leadership development, and functional training. The Command oversees 34 major training establishments across the country and serves as a key driver in preparing the Indian Army for future warfare.

Sanjay Seth was apprised by Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, ARTRAC, on the Command’s wide-ranging responsibilities.
These include doctrinal formulation, leadership training, and adaptation to contemporary and future challenges. Emphasis was placed on the Command’s efforts to institutionalise training across its 34 premier establishments nationwide.

The minister appreciated ARTRAC’s initiatives in empowering strategic leaders, promoting online learning, driving technology absorption, and strengthening functional training.

While addressing personnel at ARTRAC Headquarters, Sanjay Seth lauded the coordinated efforts of the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force during Operation Sindoor. He described the tri-services operation as a strong assertion of India’s commitment to fighting terrorism and its sponsors.
He also highlighted ongoing government efforts to expand the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and Sainik Schools network, reaffirming commitment to the welfare of ex-servicemen.
