What’s even bizarre than Pakistan claiming to have shot down Indian fighter jets during Operation Sindoor? No, it is not their call for a Nobel Peace Prize for US President Donald Trump, it is their Army Chief threatening a nuclear attack so big that it could wipe out half of the world.

Amid constant backing from the United States, whether it is on the tariff front or a new massive oil deal, Pakistan seems to having the time of its life. Now, on his latest visit to the United States, Pakistan’s Army Chief Munir has issues a nuke threat, followed by an even bizarre comment likening India to a Mercedes and Pakistan to a Dump Truck.

“We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world down with us,” Munir said from the American soil, in a first nuclear threat known to have ever been delivered from US soil against a third country. Media reports suggest that Munir made the comments while addressing an event in Tampa, Florida.

Asim Munir’s nuclear threat: What did the Pak Army chief said?

Currently in the US, Munir has threatened to take down “half the world” if Pakistan is faced with an existential threat in a future war with India. The remarks were reportedly made during a dinner hosted by businessman Adnan Asad, who serves as the honorary consul for Tampa.

Munir is also learnt to have spoken about the recent India-Pakistan conflict, questioning New Delhi’s decision to not share details of its losses during the four-day war. The Pakistan Army Chief needs to get his facts right as Air Chief Marshal AP Singh on Saturday (August 9) revealed how IAF destroyed 6 Pak aircraft during Operation Sindoor.

“The Indians should accept their losses…Sportsman spirit is a virtue,” Munir said, adding that Islamabad will also make its losses public.

Operation Sindoor: How much damage was done to Pakistan?

Air Chief Marshal Singh has confirmed that the Indian Air Force destroyed 6 Pakistani aircraft, including 5 fighter jets and another large aircraft. This was the first big revelation by the IAF on the extent of damage caused to the Pakistani side during the mega military offensive.

“We have five confirmed kills and one large aircraft, which could be either an ELINT or an AEW&C aircraft, which was taken on at a distance of 300 kms. This is actually the largest ever recorded surface-to-air kill that we can talk about,” the Air Chief Marshal said at the 16th Air Chief Marshal LM Katre Lecture in Bengaluru.

Why Munir called India a Mercedes and Pakistan a Dump Truck?

During his address in Tampa, the Pak army chief dropped a crude analogy saying India is like a shiny Mercedes, compared to “dump truck” Pakistan.  “India is shining, a Mercedes coming on a highway like a Ferrari, but we are a dump truck full of gravel. If the truck hits the car, who is going to be the loser?” he said.

What is Munir’s view on the Indus Waters Treaty?

Along with the nuclear threat, Pak’s Munir also threatened to destroy any infrastructure that India builds on the Indus water channels, stating that they do not have any dearth of missiles. “We will wait for India to build a dam, and when it does so, phir das missile sey faarigh kar dengey [we will destroy it with 10 missiles]…The Indus River is not the Indians’ family property.”

“Humein missilon ki kami nahin hai, al-hamdulillah,” he added.

Worth mentioning here is that the Pakistan Army Chief is on his second visit to the US in just 2 months, in a significant show of growing Pak-US ties. His last visit was in June when Munir was invited for a White House luncheon with President Trump. During this visit, he had recommended the US President’s name for a Nobel Prize.
