During the four-day deadly conflict with Pakistan in May 2025, Indian Armed Forces proved that they leave no stone unturned when it comes to defending Indian and the motherland. But even as they are fighting the enemy, our forces know how to maintain the right principles.

The same was highlighted by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday (December 31, 2025) when he mentioned that India’s military response during Operation Sindoor reflected the same principles of righteousness and moral restraint embodied by Lord Ram, with the Indian Army acting decisively yet responsibly against terror targets.

Speaking in Ayodhya, the defence minister underlined that the armed forces combined “restraint and resolve” while carrying out precise strikes on terrorist hideouts, ensuring that India’s actions remained rooted in dharma even in the face of provocation.

Army’s conduct during Op Sindoor

Addressing a gathering after installing the Dharm Dhwaja atop the spire of the Maa Annapurna Temple within the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi complex, Defence Minister Singh said the Army’s actions during Operation Sindoor were purposeful and calibrated.

“The Indian Army acted with restraint and resolve, taking precise and purposeful action to teach terrorists a lesson by striking their hideouts,” he said, drawing a direct parallel between modern military operations and ancient ethical warfare traditions.

With this, Singh pencilled that Ram is humble, virtuous, and compassionate. “But where necessity arises… Ramji takes on the role of vanquishing the wicked there as well. During Operation Sindoor, we worked under that same inspiration of Lord Ram,” the defence minister said.

Why was the Ayodhya event symbolically significant?

The event coincided with Pratishtha Dwadashi, marking the second anniversary of the consecration of Lord Ram’s idol at the Ram Janmabhoomi. Singh said the spiritual energy of Ayodhya now resonated far beyond the temple town, symbolising India’s cultural and moral strength.

“The consecration in Ayodhya is the consecration of India’s spiritual power,” the Defence Minister said, adding that the present generation was fortunate to witness a historic civilisational moment.

Describing the Ram temple movement as a 500-year-long peaceful struggle, Singh said it had no parallel in world history. He invoked Lord Ram’s ideals as a guiding force for the nation’s sense of duty—both in governance and national defence. “May this flag of Sanatana Dharma continue to fly as long as the sun and the moon endure. May Lord Ram guide us all on the path of duty,” he said.
