Energy To Maritime Resilience: Jaishankar Pushes India’s Global Vision At G7 Meet; Meets Foreign Counterparts

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar held a series of bilateral and multilateral engagements on Wednesday (November 12, 2025) during the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Niagara, Canada, articulating India’s stance on key global issues such as energy security, critical minerals, and maritime cooperation.
Participating in the G7 Outreach Session, Jaishankar presented India’s strategic perspective on the need for resilient supply chains, diversified partnerships, and reduced dependence on volatile markets, reiterating New Delhi’s growing role in shaping global economic and security frameworks.
Addressing the session on energy security and critical minerals, Dr Jaishankar emphasised the urgency of reducing global dependence and building predictability in supply chains.
India calls for predictable and resilient energy supply chains
“Spoke about the need on both issues to mitigate dependence, strengthen predictability and build resilience. Greater international cooperation is the only way forward,” Jaishankar wrote on X, stressing that implementation and coordination among major economies remain key to achieving long-term sustainability.
He reaffirmed India’s willingness to work constructively with international partners, aligning with the country’s push toward a cleaner and more secure energy future.
What Dr Jaishankar said on maritime security?
At a special G7 session on maritime security, the EAM also outlined India’s proactive role as a “first responder in the maritime domain”, citing its growing contributions to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions and regional logistics cooperation.
He detailed India’s “MAHASAGAR outlook”, an integrated vision for maritime cooperation, port-led development, and Indo-Pacific engagement. With this, the External Affairs Minister called for trusted and diversified maritime links; resilient and secure trade corridors; protection of critical undersea infrastructure; joint action against piracy, smuggling, and IUU fishing.
Jaishankar reiterated India’s commitment to a rules-based maritime order, affirming that the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) must be upheld.

On the sidelines of the G7 meeting, Dr Jaishankar engaged in a flurry of bilateral discussions with global counterparts, reinforcing India’s role as a balancing and bridging power across regions.
With Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha: Exchanged perspectives on recent developments in the country, regarding the ongoing conflict with Russia.
With EU High Representative Kaja Kallas: Discussed deepening the India–EU Strategic Partnership and coordination on G7 priorities.
With Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan: Conversations covered bilateral ties, connectivity, regional security, and energy cooperation.
With US Secretary of State Marco Rubio: Discussed trade, supply chain cooperation, the Ukraine war, West Asia developments, and the Indo-Pacific, while Rubio extended condolences over the recent Delhi blast.
Earlier, on Tuesday (November 11, 2025), the Minister also held discussions with his counterparts from Canada, Mexico, France, Brazil, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Germany, underlining India’s deepening diplomatic footprint across continents.
