India, Philippines Hold Army Talks To Boost Defence Cooperation, Interoperability

India and the Philippines armies on Friday (March 27, 2026) concluded their three-day bilateral talks that focused on boosting their defence cooperation and military interoperability.
The Indian Army’s X handle posted that the talks explored a framework for joint exercises, delegation visits, training and expertise exchanges, and greater collaboration on various defence matters.
The Indian delegation also called on the Philippines Army Vice Commander Major General Efren Florendo Marados in Manila to further discuss improving interoperability and enhanced defence partnerships.
The discussions highlighted the importance of reciprocal exchanges to bolster military training engagements and facilitate mutual understanding on key defence strategies, and centred on deepening bilateral ties and closer collaboration.
The army-to-army staff talks came at a time when the two nations were increasingly becoming closer, with India supplying its advanced BrahMos cruise missiles to the Philippines in recent years, keeping in mind the shared Indo-Pacific security concerns.
