India’s Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, on Sunday (December 7, 2025), confirmed that Operation Sindoor remains active, even though it is currently on hold, stressing that the armed forces stand ready to respond forcefully to any threat.

Speaking at the Armed Forces Flag Day Function 2025 in New Delhi, Admiral Tripathi praised the government’s decisive actions and said the country takes pride in its military.

What was the Indian Navy chief’s clear message?

Admiral Tripathi issued a clear message of deterrence, asserting that India would deliver a strong and immediate response to any hostile act.

“Although Operation Sindoor has been halted, it is not over yet,” he said. “You are aware of the actions taken by the Indian government at that time.

“I realise that the citizens of this country are proud of the Armed Forces. If anyone tries to cast an evil eye on us, we will give them a befitting reply. We proved this during Operation Sindoor, and we will prove it in the future too.”

What was Operation Sindoor?

Operation Sindoor, launched in May 2025, marked one of India’s most assertive cross-border military actions in recent years.

The operation was ordered in response to the April 2025 Pahalgam terrorist attack, which killed 26 people and triggered nationwide outrage.

India accused Pakistan-based terror groups of orchestrating the attack.

How was Operation Sindoor executed?

In retaliation, the Indian military carried out precision strikes on multiple terrorist bases inside Pakistan, eliminating several operatives and destroying key infrastructure used to plan attacks in Jammu & Kashmir.

The action drew strong international attention and signaled New Delhi’s willingness to take bold, proactive steps against cross-border terrorism.

While the government has not disclosed specific details on the next phase of Operation Sindoor, Admiral Tripathi’s remarks underline that India’s counterterror posture remains firm, vigilant, and uncompromising.

As tensions in the region remain high, his comments serve as a reminder of New Delhi’s readiness to escalate military action if provoked again.
