India and Oman on Monday (November 24, 2025) reiterated plans to strengthen defence cooperation, focusing on progress on the proposed Military Logistic Complex, expanding shipbuilding partnerships and boosting Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) capabilities.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan and Oman’s Ministry of Defence Secretary General Dr Mohammed Bin Nasser Bin Ali Al-Zaabi, who is in New Delhi for the 13th Joint Military Cooperation Committee (JMCC) meeting.
The Integrated Defence Staff Headquarters said the talks highlighted joint efforts in defence manufacturing, training and future avenues for defence exports.
India-Oman defence ties: How they are enhancing maritime and operational coordination?
India and Oman exchanged views on improving maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region, better border management and smoother operational turnaround of Indian Navy platforms. Both sides also discussed streamlining flight clearances for the Indian Air Force and Navy, supporting increased military engagements between the two countries.
Earlier in the day, Dr Al-Zaabi called on Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth. Both leaders reviewed the progress of India–Oman defence cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to expand the partnership under a shared vision of strategic cooperation.
“Both sides also exchanged views on bolstering Maritime Security, improving border management and facilitating smoother operational turnaround of IN platforms along with efficient IAF and IN flight clearances to support growing operational engagements,” Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff said.
How is Army-to-Army cooperation growing?
Last week, India and Oman held the 3rd Army-to-Army Staff Talks (AAST) in New Delhi. The discussions, held from October 22–23, 2025, focused on broadening joint exercises, increasing expert-level exchanges and enhancing training collaboration. Both sides also discussed capability development, professional military education and new initiatives under the Defence Cooperation Plan 2026.
The talks underline India’s growing military diplomacy and the steady rise of Oman as a key defence partner in the region. India and Oman share a long-standing strategic partnership, anchored in strong political ties, defence cooperation, counter-terrorism coordination, maritime security and energy trade.
