After concluding the Paris leg of his current visits, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Tuesday (April 14, 2026) arrived in Berlin for India-Germany Foreign Office consultations. The engagement follows India-France Foreign Office Consultations during his Paris visit, where he held talks with top French leadership on key bilateral and global issues.

Notably, Misri’s Berlin visit follows Chancellor Fredrich Merz’s successful visit to India in January 2026 and reflects continued regular high-level exchanges between. It was in the same month that India and the European Union had announced the “mother of all deals” – India-EU FTA – after years of work and negotiations.

Vikram Misri Berlin visit: What’s on the agenda?

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), in a statement, shared that in Berlin, the Foreign Secretary will co-chair the India-Germany Foreign Office Consultations alongside Dr. Géza Andreas von Geyr, State Secretary of the German Foreign Office. Misri is also expected to meet other dignitaries and senior government officials in both places.

“The discussions would cover diverse domains of bilateral co-operation including trade and investments, defence and security, technology, green energy, development co-operation, education and people-to-people ties as well as global and regional matters of mutual interest,” it stated.

What all happened on Misri’s Berlin visit?

After concluding his Paris trip, the Foreign Secretary in Berlin interacted with think-tanks and foreign policy community at Körber-Stiftung. The Indian Embassy in Berlin shared that the exchange covered key areas of Strategic Partnership between both the countries including trade, security and defence, Digital Governance and role of India-Germany-EU in evolving global order.

“Geopolitical developments impacting energy, food and economic security were also discussed,” it said.

In addition to that, Misri also had an engaging interaction with political leaders and senior Government officials. Along with deepening the India-Germany Strategic Partnership across key pillars of cooperation, the leaders exchanged perspectives on regional and global developments.

Since his visit coincided with Ambedkar Jayanti 2026, the Foreign Secretary laid a wreath for Dr. BR Ambedkar at the Embassy of India in Berlin, thereby reaffirming Baba Saheb’s timeless message of justice, equality, and fraternity, which is enshrined in the Indian Constitution.

Meanwhile, before Berlin and Paris, Foreign Secretary had visited Washington, reaffirming and giving a fresh momentum to the strong India-US ties.
