Indian Navy’s annual, international, apex-level conference – Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue 2025 – is set to open on Tuesday (October 28, 2025) in New Delhi, and will encompass wide-ranging discussions by globally renowned experts in multiple facets of the Indo-Pacific maritime domain.

A day ahead of the IPRD 2025 inaugural ceremony, Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi urged representatives from 30 nations to collaborate in building a secure, resilient, and prosperous maritime future, during the flagship international conference on maritime strategy, diplomacy, and cooperation.

Addressing the gathering via video message, Admiral Tripathi highlighted the evolution of the Dialogue as a premier regional platform for nations to share ideas and foster collaboration under the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI).

MAHASAGAR: What does it signify for India’s maritime vision?

Admiral Tripathi said this year’s Dialogue is aligned with the government’s maritime vision of MAHASAGAR — Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions. He underlined that the concept places capacity-building and regional cooperation at the centre of collective maritime progress.

“MAHASAGAR encourages cooperation among like-minded nations to ensure shared security and prosperity,” Admiral Tripathi said.

What is the focus theme of Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue 2025?

The 2025 edition of IPRD carries the theme, “Promoting Holistic Maritime Security and Growth Through Regional Capacity-Building and Capability-Enhancement.” The Navy chief noted that the theme reflects India’s steadfast commitment to inclusive, collaborative, and sustainable maritime engagement.

“Together, let’s build a safer, stronger and more prosperous maritime order,” he added.

IPRD 2025: What are the key areas of discussion?

Hosted by the Indian Navy with the National Maritime Foundation (NMF) as its knowledge partner, the three-day event has brought together naval leaders, policymakers, and maritime experts from across the Indo-Pacific. Key focus areas include capacity-building and capability-enhancement; maritime security and strategic coordination; blue economy and sustainable growth; climate resilience and disaster preparedness; maritime technology, connectivity, and future infrastructure.

Further, the Indo-Pacific region is witnessing rapid transformation due to maritime security challenges, climate change, and supply-chain disruptions, the Navy chief stated, adding these evolving dynamics demand fresh ideas, stronger partnerships, and smarter strategies to strengthen regional stability.
