Security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir have launched a massive, coordinated crackdown against Over Ground Workers (OGWs) linked to terrorist groups, detaining more than 150 suspects across the Kashmir Valley, sources said on Friday (December 12, 2025).
The operation, led by Jammu and Kashmir Police with support from other security agencies, is aimed at dismantling the logistical and support networks that sustain militancy in the region.
What was the focus of the anti-terror operations?
A senior official confirmed that over 150 suspected OGWs have been detained so far in Srinagar alone, with raids and searches continuing in multiple districts across the Valley.
The action is primarily focused on networks associated with the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and other banned terror outfits, which rely on OGWs for shelter, funding, reconnaissance, and movement of arms.
How do the operations align with J&K’s anti-terror stance?
The intensified security action follows a strong warning from Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who recently reiterated the government’s resolve to completely dismantle the terror ecosystem in the Union Territory.
The LG has underlined that not only terrorists, but also their sympathisers, facilitators, and supporters, will face the harshest legal action.
Did alert BSF capture a JeM terrorist in another operation?
The crackdown comes amid heightened vigilance along the borders. In a separate incident, alert Border Security Force (BSF) troops apprehended a JeM terrorist near the Indo-Pak international border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor sector.
The operative, identified as Abdul Khalik of Rajouri district, had illegally crossed over to Pakistan in 2021 before attempting to infiltrate back.
What did BSF seize from the captured terrorist?
BSF officials said Khalik was arrested in the Pargwal-Khour area with an M-5 rifle, a loaded magazine, and an empty high-capacity drum magazine capable of holding up to 100 rounds. He has been handed over to the local police for further investigation.
Security officials said the twin actions reflect a zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism and its support structures in Jammu and Kashmir.
