Pakistan has begun urgently reinforcing its defences along the Line of Control (LoC), rapidly deploying anti-drone systems amid growing anxiety within its military establishment over the prospect of another swift, technology-intensive Indian operation, intelligence sources said.

According to intelligence inputs, the Pakistani Army has deployed at least 35 specialised anti-drone units in forward areas along the LoC under eight brigades.

Where has Pakistan positioned anti-drone systems along the border?

These include drone detection, tracking, and jamming systems positioned close to the frontline. The deployments have been observed opposite Rawalakot, Kotli, and Bhimber, sectors considered strategically sensitive by Indian security planners due to their terrain and operational significance.

Sources say the move reflects deep concern in Islamabad over India’s expanding use of drones and loitering munitions, capabilities that were prominently demonstrated during Operation Sindoor.

How had India showcased its ability to hit Pakistan?

Indian forces showcased the ability to conduct persistent surveillance, rapid targeting, and precision strikes using unmanned systems with minimal warning time, unsettling Pakistan’s military leadership.

Anti-drone warfare has now emerged as a key operational priority for the Pakistan Army. Intelligence assessments suggest Islamabad fears that any future Indian action may be fast, localised, and driven more by advanced technology than by large-scale troop mobilisation.

How has Pakistan been vulnerable to drone strikes?

Pakistan is seen as particularly vulnerable to swarming drones and loitering munitions in the rugged LoC terrain, where traditional air defence and ground-based countermeasures have limited effectiveness.

The defensive push comes even as Pakistan continues to repair infrastructure damaged during Operation Sindoor. Rather than scaling back, the military has fast-tracked weapons procurement to address critical capability gaps.

Why has Pakistan been paranoid over Indian drones?

Over the past two to three months, Pakistan has held multiple rounds of talks with China and Turkey for emergency arms purchases and joint production arrangements.

Intelligence sources say Pakistan is inducting new command-and-control vehicles to enhance battlefield coordination and has finalised the acquisition of 300 Fatah rockets to bolster long-range strike capability.

In parallel, the Pakistan Army is upgrading its armoured fleet, replacing ageing tanks increasingly exposed to drone-led surveillance and precision-guided munitions.
