The Indian Army on Monday (December 1, 2025) successfully conducted a combat launch of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, marking a major boost to India’s long-range precision strike capability.

The test took place over the Bay of Bengal and showcased seamless coordination between a BrahMos regiment under the Southern Command and the Tri-Services Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC), according to a Ministry of Defence statement.

What did the BrahMos test achieve?

The mission was executed under simulated battlefield conditions, with the BrahMos, one of the fastest cruise missiles in the world, demonstrating exceptional high-speed flight performance, stability, and terminal accuracy.

The missile, equipped with enhanced guidance and control systems, struck its designated target with pinpoint precision, reaffirming its reputation as a frontline deterrent weapon.

How did the Army react to the test?

Army officials stated that the successful launch validates the operational readiness of BrahMos units and enhances India’s ability to carry out real-time precision strikes against emerging threats.

Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Indian Army’s Southern Command, commended the flawless execution of the mission and lauded the crews involved.

How does the test help India?

The BrahMos, jointly developed by India and Russia but increasingly indigenised, continues to be a cornerstone of India’s strategic arsenal.

This test adds another milestone to India’s march toward defence self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

With regional security dynamics evolving rapidly, the success of this long-range strike mission reinforces India’s growing capability to respond swiftly, accurately, and decisively.

The BrahMos remains one of India’s most formidable tools for maintaining credible deterrence and ensuring battlefield superiority.
