INS Kadmatt Leads 7 Warships From 5 Countries In Fleet Review On Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence Day

In a strong display of friendship and maritime cooperation, indigenously designed and built Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette INS Kadmatt took part in Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence Day celebrations. The event, held in Port Moresby, showcased India’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pacific island nations and underlined the Indian Navy’s role in fostering regional security partnerships.
Indian Naval Ship Kadmatt was on Thursday (On September 4, 2025) accorded the honour of conducting and leading the mobile Fleet Review, a significant highlight of Papua New Guinea’s golden jubilee celebrations.
As the Officer Conducting the Serial (OCS), the Indian warship shouldered the responsibility of coordinating a complex, multinational and multiplatform manoeuvre within the restricted waters of Port Moresby harbour.
Which Navies and Ships Participated in the Event?
The impressive line-up included seven warships from five countries. INS Kadmatt led the column, followed by FNS Auguste Benebig (France), HMPNGS Gilbert Toropo (Papua New Guinea), HMPNGS Ted Diro (Papua New Guinea), HMPNGS Rochus Lokinap (Papua New Guinea), VOEA Nqahau Koula (Tonga), HMAS Childers (Australia).
Together, these vessels symbolised the growing synergy among Indo-Pacific navies.
How Indian Navy ensured safe and precise execution?
Tasked with the responsibility on September 1, 2025, INS Kadmatt’s crew undertook meticulous planning and coordination. Detailed briefings and clear orders were issued to participating ships to ensure uniformity in execution. As a result, all seven warships sailed in a single column with precise spacing of 600 yards, arriving at their saluting positions exactly on schedule before safely securing alongside.
INS Kadmatt is second of the four indigenous ASW corvettes of the Indian Navy. Commissioned on January 7, 2016, the ship has participated in numerous joint naval exercises with friendly nations. The ship is equipped with state-of-the-art weapon and sensor package, enabling her to carry out wide range of missions.
The successful conduct of the Fleet Review reinforced the Indian Navy’s reputation as a professional and dependable force, capable of operating seamlessly in a multinational setting. It also highlighted the increasing interoperability of like-minded Indo-Pacific navies, with India continuing to establish itself as a Preferred Security Partner.
