Indian astronaut and Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, currently onboard the International Space Station (ISS) as part of the Axiom-4 mission, on Saturay (June 28) spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“I had a wonderful conversation with Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla as he shared his experiences from the International Space Station,” PM Modi posted on social media platform X after their conversation.

In his conversation with the astronaut, PM Modi told Group Captain Shukla, “You are the farthest from India but closest to the hearts of Indians.”

What did Group Captain Shukla, PM Modi talk about?

Highlighting the “Shubh” (meaning auspicious) in Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla’s name, the Prime Minister noted that his successful journey to space represents a “shubh-aarambh” (auspicious beginning) for a new era for the nation’s youth.

PM Modi extended his wishes, along with those of 1.4 billion Indians, to Group Captain Shukla.

The two also shared a laugh about the ‘gajar ka halwa’ (carrot dessert) that Shukla had taken with him to the Space Station. The PM asked, “Did you and the other astronauts eat gajar ka halwa there?” to which Group Captain Shukla replied that they enjoyed the dessert along with other sweet dishes he had brought.

In his message to the listeners, the Indian astronaut said, “If you try and build your future properly, then the nation’s future will also be good.”

“And keep this one thing in your heart: ‘Sky is never the limit’, neither for you, nor me, nor for India,” he added.

The interaction was livestreamed from the Prime Minister’s YouTube channel. Watch what Group Captain Shukla and PM Modi had to say here:
